Midnight Sonata

The travesties of life forever chasing the soul,
Lurid and morbid to behold the sweet sins of humanity.
Unquenchable as the desert, unyielding as the sea,
A curse upon all the heads of men, condemned to melt into nothingness.
* * *
Showers of ice, rain on the isles of solitude,
Shredding all vestige of what was once a blissful existence.
What is left is but a corpse, breathing yet bereft of purpose,
Another casualty of the wars in the recesses of the mundane mind.
* * *
Voiceless - an enigma shrouded in suffocating gloom,
Disturbing the walls of reason and reality, chaos ensues from the void.
Obscuring all light, the abyss reaches out to devour the world,
A pit of fathomless depths - carved into the heart of the tormented Earth.
